A'Float Sushi

So my boyfriend and I are huge lovers of sushi (I'm working on getting us into the real sushi...the raw stuff). Any who...one of our places we frequently visit is Old Town Pasadena. For some of you who may not know what Old Town Pasadena is or where it is...it is pretty much a long strip of restaurants (such as Bucca Di Beppo/Italian), retail stores (Forever 21 & Pottery Barn), and clubs (Villa Sorriso). CHECK OUT THE LINK...Parking can be a doozy but not impossible! Getting back to...THE FOOD!

The place is A'Float Sushi. One thing that you can expect is a relaxed and chill environment! As you are sometimes greeted immediately as you enter the restaurant, there are tables at the entrance which you could choose to sit in but the fun really is placed towards the center of the restaurant. It is pretty much a long center table where the sushi chefs' station is in the center, there is a conveyer belt that goes all the way around the table with little boats filled with delicious sushi, and then there are more seats that go around this long "family style" table. Now I will be honest, do not....do NOT expect great customer service. You place your order and its a crap shoot if they actually put it in or if they forget to because they are [not] busy.

The nice part of this place that doesn't let the off customer service is that you can basically serve yourself. If you go before 9:30pm, the chefs are consistently making fresh sushi and filling those cute little boats I ♥ so much! The amazing thing about this conveyer belt of heaven is that you can basically get your entire meal without moving an inch. Aside from sushi, you can get your edamame (baby soybean pods usually served in Japanese restaurants) to these fruit desserts they occasionally serve. You can also order many other things they have listed on their paper menus (you can somewhat see below)*

I usually have to have my hot green tea (which is amazing here), miso soup, and my boyfriend and I have these staples that I'll have to add later that I think everyone should try!!!! The way that they go about figuring out your tab is that they have 4 or 5 different colored dishes that they use; the least expensive starts at $1.90 to their most expensive $5.99. You basically keep all your dishes as you eat and then right before you leave, they counts your dishes and then hand you your bill. But before you leave, you HAVE to have their green tea ice cream...yum!!!

Overall, it's such a great little place to go and just sit back at a really nice place without the fuss of a fancy restaurant. If you and/or your guy are worried about missing the game? No worries because they have about 3 flat screens. Thursday-Saturday it can get packed (generally the whole street gets busy); Thursdays because there are clubs on that street and well Friday through Saturday (and sometimes even Sundays) because that is just how weekends go just about anywhere.
