My boyfriend and I just went on a one week vacation to...SAN FRANCISCO and had a great time! One of the things that I truly love the most about San Francisco is the FOOD! Of course I didn't get to take as many pictures as I wanted, HOWEVER, I think I managed to capture all the yummy goodness!
NAKED FISH
Located in one of the many fun streets in San Fran, this sushi restaurant definitely DID NOT stand up to how cool this little restaurant looked. You walk in and its pretty small but very colorful. Aside from the sushi bar, the other 5 or 6 tall tables at the very entrance of the restaurant are very fitting to the modern looks of the place. Walls are coated in this gorgeous gold almost looks iridescent color and across from the entrance is this really cool modern art piece of their logo.
The food was pretty good. My boyfriend and I really don't eat very much of the sashimi sushi (even though I'm trying to slowly get him into it) so we love ordering the tempura california rolls and tempura shrimp rolls. This time I ordered a tempura baby crab californa roll. Um...let's just say the legs kinda freaked someone out but I won't name names =) It was pretty good though but I honestly couldn't stop stressing about the fact that the wait-staff and chef behind the sushi bar had the fact that they didn't want to be there stamped on their faces. Usually I can be a pretty harsh critic but even my boyfriend was getting annoyed and he's such a patient person. If I have to ask for my water twice and then get it 10 min later....not so much!
Honestly though...their miso tofu soup was sooo delicious!! I always order miso soup at every japanese/sushi restaurant that we go to (at this restaurant I had to otherwise I would've passed out by the time I got my food). There's something about this soup that always hits the spot. Somehow there are some restaurants that seem to really miss the mark with this staple (I don't understand how) but this place really hit it out of the park. I know it sounds silly that I feel so strongly about probably the smallest part of my meal that day but being as how I've had miso soup at many different restaurants and I've had good and bad, I was so excited to get exactly the flavors that I was hoping for.
With that said, I'm not suggesting anyone travel to San Francisco just for the miso at The Naked Fish. The spot was cool, it was on such a great location with shops, restaurants, and a movie theater down the street and the food was pretty good. I'm just bummed that the wait-staff somewhat killed the experience for me and my boyfriend.

This place I had been eying since we arrived to San Francisco. I am a real lover of breakfast (either for lunch and or dinner) and so I looked up "best breakfast in San Francisco" on Google search and boy was I happy this place came up! The space was so relaxing and open. To say the least, as soon as we walked in we were greeted as if we had just entered someone's home as a guest. It was nice. And if you like baseball, the sheer name of the place is a great indication that you'll find some really fun pictures and memorabilia decorating the diner (along side all the awards and articles they so proudly display that they've rightfully gained along the years.)
So you go in, you get greeted and handed a menu. As you are oh so joyfully sipping on their actually good coffee (which diners usually don't have) they come to you with a little surprise. At first you think, wait I didn't order an appetizer, but then you realize oh no....of course you didn't...this is a gift...a yummy gift. It's their raisin scone that they so perfectly serve with a little bit of home-made strawberry jam and the kicker...mango jam! I honestly have to say that it was beyond delicious. My boyfriend even was like "can we order more of these and take the jam home?". This little introduction only made me more excited for my actual meal.

I really wanted to have a breakfast breakfast so I went for a classic...their Home-Run Special. You can choose whatever you want in it so I went for the French toast cooked in an orange-cinnamon batter, with scrambled eggs, and chicken sausage patties. Um...so so good. I don't know if it was that home-made bread or the orange-cinnamon batter but it was just cooked to perfection!
My boyfriend as expected dove into their club sandwich and let's just say he was pretty pleased with the outcome. You would be surprised at how some places can butcher such a classic dish...it's sad really. It's just a turkey sandwich with extra bread and STILL some places screw up the flavors. The fries were also pretty slammin'!
All in all....the next time I go visit San Francisco you better believe I will try and make this my breakfast and lunch spot. Parking can be a little bit of a hassle and like any good 'ol diner, they are only open from 7am - 3pm but trust me when I say that it' worth a shot to go in and give it a try!
